KIT SmartCampus barrierefrei - Accessible SmartCampus
Project duration 04/2015 - 03/2017 (quality assurance funds)
Target
Since December 2021 the tool is not available anymore. New solutions are discussed.
SmartCampus barrierefrei provides information on buildings and infrastructure, filtered by requirements profiles and impairments.
SmartCampus barrierefrei has developed an accessible interactive service system that provides relevant information on accessible orientation and navigation on the KIT campuses.
Barriers exist primarily for people with mobility, visual and hearing impairments. In addition, people with autism, first-year students, students from abroad, and everyone else benefit from assistance in the form of clear, fast, and reliable orientation.
In addition to students with disabilities and those interested in studying, SmartCampus barrierefrei can be used by KIT members and guests.
Added Value
Possible applications of SmartCampus barrierefrei are planning of accessible studies at KIT, orientation at the start of the semester, planning of accessible events, search for alternative access points in the case of temporary construction sites, and relevant individual needs.
Specific information, for example, can be obtained on building access points, guidance systems, info centers, disabled toilets, auditorium equipment such as wheelchair-adapted tables, mains connections, and others.
Those responsible in teaching and administration receive targeted information on the accessible equipment presently available in buildings and lecture halls.
